Lyrify Idea

The idea for Lyrify came spontaneously through a personal need for such a service. After years of writing song lyrics and recording sung melodies on my phone's voice recorder, I decided to offer these unique lyrics to the market. Initially, I decided to contact certain managers and music studios, as well as performers whom I thought might be interested in certain songs.

It wasn't easy to reach all these people, but with the help of friends and internet searches, I managed to create a database of potential collaborators and music professionals who could view and listen to my sung lyrics.

Since I am a professional programmer, I decided that the most clear and simple way to present my work was through a kind of digital list that a user could easily use.

It was also important to me to have all my lyrics in one place in a form where I could quickly and practically share or show them.

Thus, the initial idea for a system for sharing unique lyrics by songwriters like Lyrify was born.

When I finished programming a page that had the ability to display song lyrics with a YouTube video that I would enter through a simple data entry form, I thought it would be a good idea to share this service with others.

Such a thing was a challenging task.

At the time of making that decision, I was working part-time, so I had enough time during the day to work on the new application.

Since this wasn't initially a commercial idea, I decided to start building this application with the most modern development tools, so I could personally verify the reliability of those tools and work on my professional development.

This approach led to excellent results. The development of the application progressed intensely since I wasn't under pressure, and each step required a dose of inspirational creativity that made it easier to overcome repetitive, tedious tasks that many give up on in such robust projects.

Moreover, the tools I used proved reliable in all stages of testing, and I realized I had made a good choice when selecting them, as many successful startups in this and the previous year chose the same tools, and the system itself worked quickly and predictably.

The technical foundation of the Lyrify application is Next.js and PostgreSQL.

While raising my online form with song lyrics to the level of software as a service (SaaS), integrating a user authentication system, expanding the content with new pages, administrative panels, and APIs for various purposes, I came up with even better ways to make this service useful to its initial users: songwriters and those closely connected to the creative part of making a musical piece, such as composers, producers, and performers.

This is how, through constant implementation of the simplest but fundamentally necessary functionalities, the first version of Lyrify was born.

The problems that Lyrify aims to solve are easier sharing and presentation of lyrics created through creative work, the user's personal online collection of songs, their protection and promotion. Furthermore, the idea is for the application to provide tools that would help the creative creator to get an objective view of their work and the music industry as a whole, and with that information, better optimize their lyrics.

The first version of Lyrify includes the following functionalities:

  • Adding lyrics to the Lyrify database, which are presented on the homepage of the website
  • Feedback on the added lyrics with all information and the date sent to the user's email as irrefutable proof of the authenticity of the written lyrics and the date they were created
  • User profile with information about the songwriter, the ability to send direct messages, a list of published songs, and so on
  • Administrative panel where the user (songwriter) can upload new songs, edit the content of existing songs, post an ad, request collaboration (e.g., a singer or composer needed), publish their music studio, view basic information about their songs (how many people viewed, liked, etc.). Additionally, the user can share one or more songs via email or social media and download their song in PDF format.
  • In addition to the administrative panel, the registered user can manage their ads, collaboration requests, account information, and statistics in the My Account section

This concludes the framework of the first version. However, optimism regarding the development of this tool does not wane, so the plan is to continue integrating new functionalities that would not disrupt the initial idea of Lyrify's purpose but would enrich it in their own way.

Currently, the integration of a system for favoring songs, ads, collaboration requests, and advanced statistics is nearing completion, and the plan is to start with features for mentoring programs, online certificates, and functionalities that would allow songwriters and composers to connect more easily and take a modern approach to collaboration.

Regarding the general ideas for the future development of the application, the transition to Web 3.0 is planned, i.e., the integration of AI systems and blockchain.

Thank you for your time, and I hope this system makes your work easier and allows you to have all your lyrics in one place.
